Bass Coast is ready to grow your businessReady When You Are campaign for small businesses. By Portal Admin - 30th December 2017 - Back to News Bass Coast Shire Council is joining the Victorian Government’s ‘Ready When You Are’ campaign, which encourages more Melburnians to choose a new life in regional Victoria.
There are several cases of people choosing to move to Bass Coast to set up a successful small business.
Small business owners, Casey and Amy, moved to Bass Coast to adopt the type of lifestyle they wanted for their small family.
Casey found it difficult to pursue her previous career in industrial relations once she moved to Bass Coast, and so decided to set up the children’s clothing label, Norte.
"Setting up Norte in Bass Coast worked really well because it’s a small business community, everyone seems to be involved in small business in some way," Casey said.
"The experience, while daunting at the start, has been amazing. We could never have expected the amount of support that we get locally.
"We’re an online business, so we sell all over Australia, but there’s no doubt that the majority of our sales are local. The community really cheer for our business and are excited about our brand which is inspired by the area and our amazing lifestyle here.
"We like to give back to the community too, so we look for opportunities to partner with local people, groups and events."
The ‘Ready When You Are’ campaign is aimed to inspire Melburnians to follow in these footsteps and look to relocating and setting up a business in regional Victoria.
The campaign is supported by a regional investment of $4 billion in the 2017-18 State Budget as well as the continuation of the nine regional partnerships across the state, giving regional Victorians a greater say about the future of their cities, towns and communities.
Mayor of Bass Coast Shire Council Cr Pamela Rothfield said Bass Coast is ready to welcome new residents and businesses to the community.
"Along with the Victorian Government’s investments, Council is focused on supporting new business operators who want to establish a business in the region," Cr Rothfield said.
"We’re also committed to empowering existing business owners to develop and grow their business, making Bass Coast a great place to start a new life. Let’s spread the word with our friends and family and invite them to invest in a new lifestyle in Bass Coast."
