Darren Chester backs calls for pedestrian crossing at McNairn road in TraralgonSecuring federal funding to construct a safe pedestrian crossing at McNairn Road in Traralgon. By news@gippsland - 10th December 2021 - Back to News Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester is backing community efforts to build a safe pedestrian crossing at McNairn Road in Traralgon. Mr Chester is working with Latrobe City Council to secure Federal Government support for the much-needed safety improvements. 
The council wrote to the Minister for Roads and Road Safety seeking an exemption to allow construction of a pedestrian crossing of the Gippsland Line railway at McNairn Road, Traralgon Getting the work doneMr Chester said, "The lack of safe access makes the railway crossing a danger to the public and I'm backing the council's plans to construct a pedestrian overpass as soon as possible. The State Government should have made this a priority as part of the Gippsland rail line upgrades. It hasn't happened and I've asked the Federal Minister to agree to get the work done as soon as possible." Pictures from Darren Chester MP website.
