School Holiday Fun At Latrobe City LibrariesThere’s no need for children to be bored these holidays, as a fun-filled program at Latrobe City’s library service is offering entertainment for all. By Latrobe City Shire - 10th September 2010 - Back to News Latrobe City Council coordinator library services, Steven Haby, said that during the two weeks there would be musical fun, cartooning and kite making to grab your child’s attention.
"In week one, the libraries in Traralgon, Morwell and Moe will be hosting a musical extravaganza called Jen’s Super Dooper Music Show.
"This 45 minute show will be hosted by Jen who inspires the children to join in with dance moves and actions. Everyone will be singing, dancing, tapping their toes and slapping their thighs to this fast moving show," Mr Haby said.
Jen’s Super Dooper Music Show will be performing on Tuesday 21 September in the Traralgon library at 10.30am, Morwell library at 1pm, and Moe library at 3.15pm. The cost is $5 per child.
Mr Haby added that a cartooning workshop with Richard Galbraith, aimed at children aged six and over, will also be held in Week One.
"Richard is a professional artist, illustrator and author, and he will be teaching the children about the secrets of cartooning. He has produced the Aussie Christmas card series and written and illustrated 15 children’s book titles.
"One of the best things about cartooning is that you don’t need to be good at drawing to create some really cool cartoons. All you need are a few simple tips and techniques," Mr Haby explained.
Richard will be bringing his one hour cartoon fun workshops to libraries in Moe from 10.30am, Morwell from 1pm and Traralgon from 3pm on Thursday 23 September. Richard’s workshops fill up quickly, so it’s a good idea to book early. The cost is $5 per child.
In Week Two, children will be able to make a diamond kite with the help of Jo from Kites4Kids. All materials will be supplied and participants must be six years of age or older.
This session takes two hours and numbers are limited. Kite making will be held at the libraries on Wednesday 29 September in Traralgon at 10.15am and Morwell at 2pm. On Thursday 30 September, Moe will have kite making at 10.15am and Churchill will have their chance to make kites at 2pm. The cost is $5 per child.
Places are limited so bookings are essential and can be made from Monday 30 August. Contact your local library for tickets or for further information on: Churchill 1300 367 700; Moe 5135 8350; Morwell 5128 5436; and Traralgon 5176 3630, or visit the library website for further information at www.latrobe.vic.gov.au/library.
