Twenty-one not-for-profit community organisations across Gippsland will share in more than $63,000 as part of the Federal government's 2024-25 Volunteer Grants Program. Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 will assist successful community organisations in supporting the efforts of their volunteers, enabling the inclusion of vulnerable people and promoting awareness to increase participation in volunteering.

Supporting local volunteers

Mr Chester said, "Throughout Gippsland, we have thousands of volunteers who dedicate their time and support the community and through the Volunteer Grants program, we can give them a helping hand and make their roles as volunteers easier and more enjoyable"

"With an ever-increasing cost burden facing our volunteer organisations, these funds will go some way to supporting them in continuing their immense contribution in making Gippsland a better place, ensuring that our volunteers feel supported and appreciated for the incredible work they do."

"Volunteers are the lifeblood of our community. From caring for our environment to helping those in need, their work strengthens every corner of Gippsland, and while their contributions may be unpaid, they are far from unrecognised," Mr Chester said.
