The Nationals Member for Gippsland Province, Peter Hall has advised that grants of up to $7000 are now available in the second round of the Restoring Community War Memorials Grants Program.

By Peter Hall - 19th October 2005 - Back to News

He invited ex-service organisations, local councils, schools and community groups to seek funding to preserve, restore and enhance local war memorials and honour rolls.

"Community cenotaphs and war memorials are an essential element of the streetscapes of country towns and contribute strongly to our love for our own town and our sense of place.

"They are a source of community pride and respect, not only on Anzac Day, Armistice Day and special wartime anniversaries, but every day.

"Repairs, re-lettering, new plaques, lighting, landscaping, interpretative signs and, if necessary, re-location, are all projects that will be considered for funding," said Mr Hall.

Applications close on Friday, 27 January 2006 and can be submitted either on-line, by email, by fax or by mail.

Guidelines and applications can be obtained from Peter Hall’s office at 190 Franklin Street, Traralgon.

Applicants can also obtain guidelines and forms or discuss their application with a Department for Victorian Communities Program officer by calling the Grants Information Line on 1300 366 356 (cost of a local call) on any weekday between 8.30 am and 10.00 pm (except public holidays).
