Grants To Support Ethnic Seniors In Morwell Electorate • Two seniors groups receive funding under the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Seniors grants program
• Grants to support seniors from a diversity of backgrounds
By Russell Northe - 12th September 2014 - Back to News „h Victorian Coalition Government support ethnic communities Seniors from ethnic groups in the Morwell electorate will benefit from $10,000 of Victorian Coalition Government funding to assist their members participate more fully in the community and live active, healthy and independent lives. Member for Morwell Russell Northe said the funding under the Participation for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Seniors grants program was a welcome contribution to the community. ˇ§Our older people offer a wealth of life experience, and it is important they are sharing and enjoying this with other seniors from their multicultural background and from the wider community,ˇ¨ Mr Northe said. ˇ§The Gippsland International Womenˇ¦s Group will benefit from $5,000 in funding for 4-5 excursions including support for transportation and communication materials. ˇ§The Senior Citizens of the Greek Orthodox Community of Gippsland will also benefit from $5,000 in funding to assist with transport to and from activities, information sessions and social outings.ˇ¨ The Coalition Government has committed $1.6 million over four years to supporting older Victorians from all cultural backgrounds to live independent, active and healthy lives.
Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Danny Oˇ¦Brien, encouraged eligible organisations such as local councils, seniors clubs, neighbourhood houses and other aged care facilities to apply for funding of up to $10,000 under the fourth round of the CALD grants program.
Mr Oˇ¦Brien said the fourth round of grants is now open and will close on Friday 30 January 2015.
