Latrobe Valley Authority Benefiting Community

Morwell Historical Society receives a $12,539 grant.

The Morwell Historical Society building on Hazelwood Road is one of 13 new community projects to benefit from Latrobe Valley Authority’s Community and Facility Fund, with Morwell Historical Society receiving a $12,539 grant for heating and cooling upgrades to ensure year-round comfort.

The project is among the latest round of grants awarded under the Fund, bringing the total funding amount for facility upgrade projects and events to over $11 million since the grants program commenced two years ago.

The latest round of funding from Latrobe Valley Authority’s Community and Facility Fund, totals over $750,000 and includes the following projects:

• Morwell Historical Society ($12,539) to replace inefficient gas heating with four Daikin air conditioners, an electrical switchboard and the kitchen gas hot water.
• Tyers Recreation Reserve ($262,417) to upgrade the existing sports lighting, a new LED lighting system to improve lighting, lower costs and increase participation.
• arcYinnar ($4,500) to fund planning for the redevelopment of their exhibition, art studio and community activity space in Yinnar.
• Warragul Woodworkers Club ($47,084) to install a fixed dust extraction system to reduce exposure to dust in the shed.
• Sale Bridge Club ($11,183) for heating and cooling upgrades at the Main Hall of the Sale Masonic Lodge to improve comfort for Sale Bridge Club members.
• Yinnar Bowls and Recreation Club ($34,931) to extend and modify the Club’s veranda to provide additional sun and rain protection, including adding a BBQ shelter for all-weather Club and community use.
• Gippsland Asbestos Related Disease Supports Inc. ($79,848) to install ducted heating and cooling, solar power, a DDA-compliant unisex toilet, a security upgrade, painting and new computer hardware and software.
• Jack Canavan Oval ($74,695) to install drainage to the northern and eastern boundaries of No. 1 Oval, and perimeter fencing between the western side (carpark) and around No. 2 Oval.
• Briagolong Tennis Club ($50,783) to install shaded seating, fencing between the player/spectator area and the Reserve vehicle access road and tennis court parking, and add disabled access to the courts and facility.
• Warragul Croquet Club ($14,787) to improve security, widen an access pathway, and install steps and rails to eliminate potential slip hazards.
• Airly Clydebank Public Hall Inc. ($142,432) for new toilets, to widen doorways, designate disabled parking, install external ramps and pathways, as well as upgrades including solar panels, a water tank, heating and cooling, and upgrades to the kitchen.
• Tarra Territory Tourism ($11,450) to install a public and interactive art work at Yarram Memorial Park.
• Traralgon Girl Guides ($12,125) to upgrade security lighting, fire detection systems, and air conditioning.
