World Environment Day Expo

As part of Bass Coast’s World Environment Day Expo, the Bass Coast Environmental Alliance is holding a meeting at 7pm on Wednesday 14 June, at the San Remo Recreation Centre.

Kellie Nichols from the Bass Coast Landcare Network said that all members of the community were invited to attend.

"There will be a number of guest speakers on the night," said Ms Nichols.

"The aim is to offer everyone who attends a challenge, a reward and a glimpse at the future."

Three guest speakers will outline their environmental projects.

· David Jobe, Convenor, Bass Coast Roundtable - Mornington Peninsula and Western Port Biosphere Reserve presents the goals and benefits of the 2005/06 Business Environmental Sustainability Recognition Program.

· Steve Fuery, Project Leader will give advance notice of Phillip Island‘s Plastic Bag Free Challenge - funded by a Sustainability Victoria grant.

· Dan Garlick, Coordinator, Western Port Greenhouse Alliance is presenting Climate Change Impacts in the Western Port Region. It looks at the likely climate change scenarios for Western Port, possible impacts and adaptation priorities. The study is a first of its kind undertaken in Australia and aims to provide a regional response to climate change.

The meeting is expected to conclude at 9pm and a light supper will be provided. Anyone interested in attending should RSVP to Rose Thomas – 5956 4114 or Kellie Nichols – 5678 2335 by Friday, 9 June 2006.
