Your Chance To Discuss The Morwell Skate Park Proposed Design A second workshop to discuss the design of the Morwell Skate Park will be held on Wednesday 23 November at the Senior Citizens Centre Community Meeting Room, By Latrobe City - 28th November 2011 - Back to News Maryvale Crescent Morwell from 5.30pm. The proposed design is available to view on Council’s website and at each service centre until Friday 2 December 2011.
Latrobe City’s mayor, Councillor Darrell White said that feedback from an earlier workshop had contributed to the proposed design currently on display.
"Council engaged world-renowned skate and BMX park designers, Convic Design, to assist with the proposed design. Community members attended the initial design workshop in May and had some creative ideas of their own. In particular the feedback from young participants about the angles of banks and ramps has been taken into consideration for this preliminary design.
"It was important for the users that we talked to first time around that this was a space for beginners through to advanced users allowing progression for all.
Tanjil Ward Councillor, Bruce Lougheed said that during the follow-up design workshop, the consultants will again work with the community to gain feedback about the proposed design.
"It is important that everybody who is going to use this facility is happy with its design and that they feel some kind of ownership in its creation," Cr Lougheed said.
Cr Lougheed added that following the close of the community consultation period on Friday 2 December 2011, submissions will be considered and if necessary the Morwell Skate Park design will be further revised before being presented to Council at a future meeting.
The community is invited to attend the design workshop on Wednesday 23 November at the Seniors Citizens Centre Rose Garden Meeting Room, Maryvale Crescent Morwell from 5.30 to 8pm. To view the proposed design visit www.latrobe.vic.gov.au or any council service centre.
