Join Food and Fibre Gippsland for an insightful workshop on Drought Resilience at the Leongatha Golf Club on Thursday 17 April! Facilitator Jenny O'Sullivan will guide participants in identifying strengths and opportunities to support South Gippsland communities in preparing for and maintaining resilience to drought. What's on South Gippsland

H3: Exhibitions at Coal Creek

Head on over to Coal Creek these school holidays to explore South Gippsland creative arts scene. Hidden Ecology by the Toora Arts Networks and Spin a Yarn by the Coal Creek Spinners, promises to ignite your imagination and creative spark. The Coal Creek Spinners are also hosting a live demonstration, Spin a Yarn, where visitors are invited to watch the creative process in motion throughout the day. This demonstration will be taking place on:

  • Friday 2 May
  • 10.00am to 3.00pm

School Holidays: Learn to Skate

The Rumble Roadshow Victoria - The Rumble Roadshow is coming to Mirboo North these school holidays (Monday 14 April). Head on over to the Mirboo North SkatePark and watch live skateboarding demos, learn to skate and be part of giveaways. This is a free event, but we encourage everyone to register so they don't miss out! Register via Rumble Roadshow website.

Easter Egg Hunt at Coal Creek

The Lion's Club of Korumburra is bringing the Easter Bunny to Coal Creek this Easter Sunday (20 April). Grab your tickets and enjoy a family fun filled day of Easter egg hunting, live entertainment and a sausage sizzle. Register via trybooking website.

Southern Lights Festival

The Southern Lights Festival is returning to Coal Creek this winter!

Head on down to Korumburra on Saturday 7 June for an evening of lights, music, food and fire.

Self Advocacy Expo

Join New Wave and Yooralla at the Self Advocacy Expo! The Self Advocacy Expo is taking place on Tuesday 29 April from 10.00am to 1.00pm at the Leongatha Memorial Hall. This event is an excellent opportunity for community members to learn about self-advocacy groups and connect with local service providers.

One of the highlights of this year's expo will be a special performance by participants from Yooralla, showcasing their talents and contributions. Whether you are already involved in self-advocacy or looking for ways to get started, this expo offers something for everyone, visit New Wave Gippsland Self Advocacy Facebook page.

South Coast Community Leadership Program

A group of participants from South Coast Community Leadership Program are working together on a project called "Shine Online". They are all community members and volunteers themselves - and their project is about making marketing and promotion easier for community groups.

Shine Online is a project supporting local, volunteer-led community groups to help build their confidence in digital marketing - especially using simple videos and social media.

To help the group understand your experiences, they have created a short survey. Your feedback will help shape a free, practical program launching soon. To take the survey, head to South Gippsland website.

Impound Vehicle - Notice of Sale

Council impounded the following vehicle on Wednesday 19 March from Princes Street, Korumburra in accordance with Schedule 11 of the Local Government Act 1989. Car Details:

  • Colour - Silver
  • Year - 2005
  • Make - Holden
  • Body Type - Sedan
  • Registration Number - UWM317

As this vehicle has not been collected and relevant fees paid within 14 days of impoundment, the vehicle is now offered for sale to the public. Offers marked "Abandoned Vehicle" and addressed to the Coordinator Community Safety are hereby invited for the purchase and removal from council of the aforementioned abandoned vehicle.

Offers close at 2.00pm on 25 April 2025 and are to be either posted to South Gippsland Shire Council, Private Bag 4, Leongatha VIC 3953 or emailed to council@southgippsland.vic.gov.au on or before the said time and date. The vehicle can be viewed by appointment with the Community Safety team on 5662 9200. The highest or any offer will not necessarily be accepted.

EOI Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee

We are seeking community members to join the Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee. The Committee addresses access and inclusion issues, promotes equity, and develops the Access and Inclusion Action Plan. Meetings are held monthly in Leongatha, with an online option available.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

Youth Mental Health First Aid training is now available for booking on council's website. This training equips participants with the skills to recognise and respond to signs of mental health issues in young people, providing crucial support and guidance. If this training would benefit you in your career or volunteer position, we encourage you to consider participating.

Additionally, refresher courses are available for those whose certificates are nearing expiration (certificates are valid for three years). This is a great opportunity to stay updated and continue supporting youth mental health in our community. Head to the South Gippsland Shire Council website to book your spot today!
