Library course to demonstrate online databasesThe Latrobe City Library Service is holding information sessions highlighting the online databases available to library members next week. By Latrobe City Council - 19th February 2004 - Back to News Traralgon Library Co-ordinator, Claire Wood said that the Library subscribed to five online databases, which members could access through any PC connected to the internet.
"These databases provide a gateway to a vast array of information resources available through Australian and international journals, books, newspapers and pictures. Library members can find information for a school or university assignment, quality information on current events, current business information, information about medical conditions, book reviews or the latest information on scientific research.
"During these sessions, attendees will be shown how best to use the search facilities of the databases in order to get the information they specifically require.
"There is an overwhelming amount of information out there, and this course is designed to demonstrate how to get the exact information required," Ms Wood said.
The online database sessions will run on Sunday 22 February at Traralgon Library, Breed Street from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. To register your attendance, telephone Traralgon Library on 5176 3631.
For Morwell Library, the course will be held on Friday 27 February, from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. Telephone 5128 5436 to register your attendance.
There are also two sessions at Moe Library on Saturday 28 February at 9.30am to 10.30am and from 11am to 12 noon. "These are practical, hands-on courses, which means that attendees should have knowledge of a keyboard and mouse," Ms Wood explained. Telephone Moe Library on 5135 8350 to register your attendance.
