Mr Ingram has thanked the Minister for Education and Training, Lynne Kosky, and the State Government for the decision to build the rural learning campus in the electorate of Gippsland East, east of Marlo.

He also thanked Mr Brett Lynn, economic development officer of the East Gippsland Shire Council for his dedication and commitment in driving the project.

"The rural learning campus, which is based on the Alpine School model at Dinner Plain, provides an alternative leadership and wilderness experience for Year Nine public school students from across the state," Mr Ingram said.

"This development will provide enormous positive opportunities for the far east communities.

"All sections of the community, along with government agencies, have been extremely positive and united in their support for this project.

"The Orbost district has been subjected to significant hardship with the OFOF timber restructure and other government reforms and this project will focus on the positive aspects of our region’s future, including our national parks and other natural asserts," Mr Ingram concluded.
