Relay For Life – Paint The Towns Purple Member for Morwell and patron of this year‟s Latrobe Relay for Life Russell Northe is encouraging local businesses in the Morwell electorate to participate in this years „Paint the towns Purple‟ event. By Russell Northe - 5th September 2013 - Back to News Mr Northe said "If you love dressing up, wearing wigs, face paint and hats and trying to make a difference then why not help to „Paint the towns purple‟.
"We are inviting local businesses to get involved by displaying promotional brochures/posters and flying the colour „purple‟ which represents all cancers to support the Latrobe Relay for Life and the Cancer Council of Victoria," Mr Northe said.
"Relay for Life is more than just a fundraiser it is an opportunity to get together with your community and celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer and fight back against the disease that takes too much."
Mr Northe said "Latrobe‟s Relay for Life event is celebrating its 11th year, on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October 2013. Paint the towns purple is a perfect way to help us promote the event.
"Paint the towns purple is being held from Monday the 9th September to Saturday 14 September," Mr Northe said.
"Relay for Life is an incredible overnight event that is an opportunity for family, friends and colleagues to get together with the community and celebrate cancer survivors.
"It is a unique event where teams of 10 to 15 challenge themselves to take turns to keep a baton moving in a relay style walk or run overnight."
Mr Northe said "Each event is unique and you can stay for the whole event, camp overnight, or just visit and enjoy the free entertainment, prizes and ceremonies that make Relay for Life so inspirational.
"Each person on the team pays a registration fee which includes a polo shirt and cold breakfast at the event. Participants are supported in their fundraising efforts in the lead up to the event," Mr Northe said.
There are no age limitations or fitness requirements – Relay for Life is suitable for everyone and anyone can join in the fun! You can register to participate in your local Relay for Life now.
