Community grants program open until 31 August 2022 and more news from South Gippsland Shire Council
There's still time to submit an application for Round 1 of council's Community Grants Program.
The program provides funding support for community initiatives that benefit South Gippsland residents and are open to local community groups and organisations. For more information about the grants available or to make a grant application, please visit South Gippsland Shire Community Grants web page. Submissions close 31 August . Catch up with councillor meetings are well under way and there are still a few left if you are quick! Our councillors are hitting the road to hear from anyone and everyone about anything and everything.

Reception closure
Next week, council's main reception in Leongatha will be closed for building works. Reception will reopen on Monday 22 August. During this time our friendly Customer Service team can still be contacted on 5662 9200 or you can visit South Gippsland Shire's Reception Closure website.

Home energy efficiency training
Would you like to be more energy efficient? Gippsland Community Power Hub are running one day training courses on energy efficiency across Gippsland. This is a great opportunity for community members to learn some of the basics. Cost is $25 per person, lunch and refreshments provided. The courses are running in Mallacoota, Bruthen, Leongatha and Morwell.

Offshore renewable energy proposal
Late last week, the federal government's Minister for Climate Change and Energy proposed an area off the Gippsland coast for offshore renewable energy projects. This affects South Gippsland, so we wanted to let you know that there is an opportunity for you to provide feedback on this project. You can provide feedback online at the link below.

Get ready, get techy
There are a range of apps that can help you stay informed during an emergency. But sometimes it can be difficult to know how to download and use them. During August and September, council is running free Get Ready. Get Techy training that will guide you - step-by-step - through the set-up process and show you how to get the most from your emergency apps.
Free training sessions will be held in the following locations:

Request for tenders
Council is seeking submissions from qualified companies/applicants for the following:
- RFT/332 - Design & Construction of a Pedestrian Bridge and Elevated Walkway at Leongatha Rail Precinct
A pre-tender meeting will be held on Wednesday 10 August at 11:00am at South Gippsland Shire Council Offices. All submitters are requested to attend. Tenders close 2pm AEST on Wednesday 24 August 2022.
- RFT/330 - Design & Construction of AFL Sports Floodlighting at Four Locations
Tenders close 2pm AEST on Monday 29 August 2022. Documentation is available from council's e-Tendering Portal.
Street light outages
Please be advised that AusNet will be undertaking streetlight works this weekend. The outages are scheduled for Sunday 14 August between 4am - 5am and 10pm - 11pm. Streetlights are likely to be impacted in:

- Poowong
- Korumburra
