Pet registrations due
If you haven't yet renewed your pet's registration, the time to do so is now. Keep your four-legged friends safe and secure by registering them with South Gippsland Shire Council.
Your registration fees go towards important services within the Shire such as animal control and community education about responsible pet ownership. But most importantly, registering your pet ensures they can be returned to you if they become lost.

South Gippsland Shire Council offers free mentoring sessions for small businesses in partnership with SBMS on 18 Apr 2024 with limited spots available

South Gippsland Shire Council is teaming up with the Small Business Mentoring Service to provide FREE online mentoring for emerging and established small businesses within South Gippsland.

Vote for the ArtCubes
Voting has officially opened for the 2024 National Award of local government. This year South Gippsland Shire Council has submitted the ArtCubes to the Creativity and Culture category. This initiative has fostered creative vibrancy throughout our region, whilst providing our arts community with a space to proudly showcase their work.

Council office cladding works
Cladding works at council's main office at 9 Smith Street Leongatha are well and truly underway. The first section of cladding works in the area adjacent to the RSL car pack are now complete and works on the side of the building opposite Woolworths have commenced.
Council's Customer Service counter (a.k.a Reception) will still operate as per the advertised opening hours. Access to the Woolworths car park will also be unaffected, and measures will be in place to ensure the safety of pedestrians.

Candlelight vigil
Council would like to extend a warm invitation to everyone in our community to attend a Candlelight Vigil on:
- Wednesday 1 May from 6.30pm
- Council's main office
- 9 Smith Street, Leongatha
The Vigil, which is being held in locations across Gippsland, Victoria and Australia, has been organised to remember and honour those who have lost their lives to domestic and family violence.
In 2022, South Gippsland ranked 26 out of all 79 local government areas in Victoria for family violence rates. In real numbers, that is 538 call outs recorded by Victoria Police. Kindergarten central enrolment
SAVE THE DATE! Registrations for three- and four-year-old kindergarten in 2025 open on 1 May. To register, simply head to council's website, complete the online registration form and nominate your top three kindergarten preferences.
To ensure an easy and fair process for all parents, council operates the central registration system on behalf of all participating kindergartens across South Gippsland. These workshops are focussed on building capacity and sustainability for these groups as well as providing them with tools to develop new skills, strengthen their community group, and network with others.

South Gippsland and Bass Coast Shire Council have partnered with not-for-profit organisation Renew to deliver a series of free interactive webinars, to equip residents with information and tools to reduce their energy bills and live more sustainably. The upcoming workshops include:

The NAB Foundation offers up to $25,000 for local disaster resilience projects, with $1 million yearly Community Grants and $200,000 Impact Grants
NAB Foundation community grants
Australian communities are being hit harder by natural disasters more often. It takes many hands to get communities backup and running after a disaster and to build resilience for the next one.
That's why the NAB Foundation Community Grants program provides funding of up to $25,000 for local projects that help communities withstand and recover from natural disasters. NAB Foundation Community Grants support community-led projects that relate to:
- Training and planning
- Community recovery
- Environment and wildlife
- Equipment and infrastructure
