East Gippsland new trails, features, and updates at Omeo MBT Park, explore the latest developments and safety reminders

Omeo Mountain Bike Park has opened 16 km of new trails, including top-to-bottom links, and continues improvements, with Connley's Road crossing, new signage, and progress on Pendulum and Livingstone Park works.

By news@gippsland - 14th April 2025 - Back to News

We've opened another 16 kilometres of single trail, including the long-anticipated top-to-bottom link from Sam Hill summit to Livingstone Park via Mount Mesley. You can now access:

  • Bangers N Thrash - A Blue Flow descent from the summit, packed with jumps, berms and big toothy grins
  • Beef Cheeks - A connecting Blue descent from Big Gum Junction to the new Connley's Road crossing
  • Stampede - A Green/Blue descent with rock features, finishing at Camp 2
  • Reload - A climbing trail connecting Camp 3 to The Yards junction
  • Shotgun Alley - A link to Flomeo via Bunyip and the Top Gravity Hub

Trail updates unveiled

Connley's Road crossing now open

This stage has opened up an exhilarating top-to-bottom experience, with views all the way to New South Wales from Sam Hill and all the way down to the Livingstone Park pump track. For XC mountain goats, it is also climbable from bottom to top.

You might also notice that our new trail map features our clean new logo. Let us know what you think of it at Ride Omeo Facebook page

Swinging into action on Pendulum

Our trail crew is now focused on Pendulum (GR5), an epic Black freeride line, and XC8 and XC9 in the Dry Gully area. These are some of our most ambitious builds yet - steep, remote and rock-heavy. We are aiming for completion by the end of June.

Respect our neighbours

With Connley's Road crossing now operational, riders are reminded to:

  • Respect private property and be mindful of nearby livestock and landholders
  • Share public roads - they are not just for mountain bike use
  • Watch for vehicles and other road users - and remember that traffic is two-way on the roads
  • Take care on gravel - roads such as Sam Hill and Connley's can be narrow and slippery, especially when wet
  • Stay alert in car parks for vehicles, other bike riders, and pedestrians

Shuttle delivery

We're getting closer to choosing a shuttle company to haul bikes and riders to the top of our peaks, so you can maximise your downhill run time and avoid the hard slog of too much uphill. We expect to reach a decision in May. Watch this space.

Livingstone Park works in progress

Flood mitigation works at Livingstone Park are progressing well. The contractor is on-site, carrying out excavation work and creating rock chutes and crossings, as well as planting vegetation to strengthen the floodway.

  • Rock chute 1 now completes next to the carpark
  • Chutes 2 and 3 underway beside the pump track

In great news, three large eucalyptus trees previously marked for removal have been retained thanks to collaboration between the design team, arborist, and contractor. Keep an eye out for detours, slow down near work areas, and please stay clear of exclusion zones.

Trail access expands

New signage installed

Local signage maker and installer SignLine is updating our onsite trail maps. Trails marked as closed or taped off are still under construction. Please ensure you give our trail builders room to work safely.

Car Park opens on Sam Hill

A car park has opened on Sam Hill, offering easy access to the upper trail network. A heads up: weather at the summit is often cloud-covered, wet and cold - so please dress appropriately.

National spotlight on our trails

Omeo Mountain Bike Park has been named on Tourism Australia's Hot List for April - a spotlight on must-visit destinations around the country.

Community rake trial

Spotted a red rake on Pioneer Trail? That's for our new Community Rake trial. This section tends to collect loose rock - so if you can spare five minutes, help make the ride better for everyone by giving the trail a quick tidy.
