Yarragon’s $3.9M Dowton Park Pavilion progressing, boosting local sport, community facilities and infrastructure by March 2026Construction of Yarragon’s $3.9 million Dowton Park pavilion is progressing well, with steel framing, utilities, and key facilities underway, set for completion and community use by March 2026. By news@gippsland - 14th October 2025 - Back to News A new $3.9 million sporting pavilion at Yarragon’s Dowton Park is making great progress with several key milestones already achieved and more on the horizon. Following demolition of the existing outdated facility, construction for the main new pavilion is well underway. A concrete slab has been poured, and both the structural steel and lightweight framing are now in place. Preparations are also underway for roof truss installation.
Construction progress on the new sports pavilion at Dowton Park Yarragon facility upgradeElectrical mains have been connected to the upgraded power pillar, and water connection works are scheduled for completion soon. Additionally, construction of the separate timekeeper's room and coaches’ box is nearly complete, with just a few finishing touches required. Mayor of Baw Baw Shire Councillor Danny Goss said it was great to see more valuable sporting infrastructure underway in Yarragon. "This facility is a great example of all three levels of government working together to deliver the infrastructure that local communities want, need and deserve", said Cr Goss. Yarragon Pavilion progressEast Ward Councillor Adam Sheehan said the new pavilion would help to put Yarragon on the map for junior and senior footy, netball and cricket. "We recently had a site walkthrough which gave us a great opportunity to see the emerging structure and visualise the layout of each room. The quality of the work is exceptional. Once completed, this new facility will provide a welcome boost to grassroots sport for the Yarragon community and surrounds." Over the coming months, next steps will see installation of plaster walls, concrete pavements and connecting paths, internal fit outs and other essential service connections. The facility is due for completion in March 2026. For more information, go to Dowton Park Pavilion Upgrade page. Pictures from Baw Baw Shire Council website.
