Engaging young Gippslanders

Mr Chester said, "I always enjoy spending time with young Gippslanders, hearing about the issues that matter to them and answering their thoughtful questions about leadership and the role I play in our local community. The students came prepared with insightful questions about what makes a good leader and what I consider my greatest achievements in Parliament."

"I shared that the Princes Highway upgrades between Traralgon and Sale remain the largest infrastructure project of my career, and that introducing service dogs for veterans during my time as Minister for Veterans’ Affairs is one of the achievements I am most proud of," Mr Chester said.

Student leadership opportunities

Mr Chester said student leadership roles provide important opportunities for young people to develop lifelong skills. "Whether it’s school captain, house captain, sports captain or student council, these roles give students the chance to lead by example and make a positive difference. But leadership isn’t about titles, it’s about service, teamwork and looking out for others. That’s exactly what these students are learning."

Mr Chester congratulated each member of the 2026 leadership team and encouraged them to embrace the responsibility of their roles. "I wish the Glengarry Primary School leadership team every success as they work together to make a positive impact," Mr Chester said.
