Businesses Improve Access through FundingImproved access for all abilities from funding by the Rural Access program. By Portal Admin - 16th September 2018 - Back to News Bass Coast businesses and community organisations have improved access for all abilities thanks to funding from the Rural Access program in partnership with Bass Coast Shire Council and the Department of Health and Human Services.
This funding is available again this year and is now open for applications, closing on 21 September.
Businesses utilised grants of up to $1,000 to fund projects such as improving pathways, parking and equipment to improve access and inclusion aspects of their premises or facilities.
The Disabled Surfing Association Bass Coast and ProSurf Coaching both purchased specialised surfing equipment to improve access and participation of people with disability in surf experience classes in Inverloch and Phillip Island.
Patrons to the Phillip Island Ten Pin Bowling and Entertainment Centre now have access to a designated accessible parking bay located by the Centre’s front entry.
Visitors to the National Vietnam Veterans Museum can access and view planes on exhibit in the Museum grounds using a new all abilities pathway.
Bass Valley Community Group Inc has now received the results of the Access Audit on their buildings which was undertaken by an accredited access consultant.
Applications for the next round of funding for the Building Disability Inclusive Business and Community Organisations are now open and close on 21 September 2018.
