Martin Cameron accused the Allan Labor government of delaying Moe's promised Fire Rescue Victoria station and misleading residents
Martin Cameron, Nationals Member for Morwell, criticised the Allan Labor government for delaying the promised Fire Rescue Victoria station in Moe. He accused them of misleading residents with claims about necessary site subdivision.
The Nationals' Member for Morwell, Martin Cameron, has taken aim at the Allan Labor government for using "shameful delay tactics" to avoid delivering a Fire Rescue Victoria station that was promised for Moe. The night before Victorians went to the polls in 2022, Labor announced the derelict Old Baw Baw Hotel on Lloyd Street would be the site for the new FRV station.
The Minister has misled Moe residents with this furphy which is clearly a shameful delay tactic because the Allan Labor government is a complete shambles, says Martin Cameron
Project delays exposed
Responding to questions about why the project has not progressed, Minister for Emergency Services Jaclyn Symes claimed it was at a standstill because the site "must" be subdivided before construction of the station can begin. "That is simply not true, and Latrobe City Council has confirmed that development of the FRV station is not dependent on sub-division at all."
"The Minister has misled Moe residents with this furphy which is clearly a shameful delay tactic because the Allan Labor government is a complete shambles. Labor touted the new station as 'an investment in Moe's future, for a Moe we're all proud of', but platitudes mean nothing when there is no intent to actually deliver."
"The Allan Labor government has already left a trail of broken promises across the Valley, and we cannot afford to let something as vital as a new fire station suffer the same fate. I won't stand idly by as Labor slashes funding for vital projects in regional Victoria while spending billions on blowout projects in Melbourne. Labor can't manage money, can't manage emergency services, and Victorians are paying the price," Mr Cameron said.
