Grant Round Open for Local Crime and Safety Solutions - Narracan$25 million investment in the Community Crime Prevention Program. By Portal Admin - 14th September 2019 - Back to News Narracan communities will have the chance to design local crime prevention projects and increase public safety as part of the Andrews Labor Government’s $25 million investment in the Community Crime Prevention Program.
Applications are now open for the latest round of Community Safety Fund grants, which provide funding for communities to design practical solutions to local crime and safety issues.
Victorian councils and not-for-profit groups can apply for grants of up to $10,000 for stream 1 projects and up to $25,000 for stream 2 projects.
Stream 1 projects are aimed at helping to prevent crime relating to community facilities and in public spaces.
Projects can include the installation of security equipment, locks, vandal-proof security lighting, as well as small-scale improvements to streetscapes, parks and reserves to encourage greater use.
Stream 2 projects are aimed at education and awareness initiatives focussing on home safety, theft from businesses, personal property theft in public places and theft of, and from, motor vehicles.
Applicants can also apply for stream 2 grants for projects that help to boost understanding of the Victorian justice system, as part of an expanded awareness and education grant focus during this year.
Since 2015, the Andrews government has provided almost $3 million in Community Safety Fund grants to help support 460 crime prevention projects across Victoria.
Applications for this latest grant round will close at 4pm on Friday 18 October 2019.
