New Year – New Collection

The East Gippsland Shire Library has launched a new DVD collection, available to library members from the various libraries throughout the region.

By East Gippsland Shire Council - 13th January 2004 - Back to News

"The new collection hit the shelves at the beginning of January and has been welcomed by keen borrowers," said Library Coordinator, Anna Cook.

"It complements the Library's extensive videotape collection and is spread across the five branches (Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance, Paynesville, Orbost and the Mobile Library).

"Due to the initial high level of demand, the loan limit is restricted to one DVD per member and can be borrowed for a period of two weeks. As the collection grows, these limits will be relaxed," Anna said.

The listing of new DVDs can be viewed in the "New Items" section of the library’s online catalogue at www.egipps.vic.gov.au. A printed list is also available at each branch.

Anna said the DVDs will certainly enhance the overall collection as most of them provide the opportunity for both subtitles and dubbed in languages other than English.

"In addition, we will not be duplicating what is available through commercial outlets as we are purchasing DVDs with documentary content and some of the less ‘classic’ movies," she said.

DVDs are movies and documentaries available on a laser disc similar to music CDs but requiring a DVD player to view them.

Membership of the library is free and there is no minimum age. Members are also able to borrow Music CDs, CD ROMs, Talking Books on tape and CD, Language tapes, Magazines and of course books in both large and standard print.

For further information contact Anna Cook on 5153 9500.
