Darren Chester commits $2.5M from coalition to transform Churchill Gaskin Park into modern community sports hub
Gippsland MP Darren Chester has committed $2.5 million for a major upgrade of Churchill's Gaskin Park, supporting families, sporting clubs, and improved facilities for women and the growing local community.
Community groups, families and sporting teams are at the heart of Gippsland MP Darren Chester's $2.5 million funding commitment for the redevelopment of Gaskin Park in Churchill under a Coalition government. The Federal Member for Gippsland has committed up to $2.5 million for the major redevelopment of facilities at Gaskin Park, which he says doesn't meet the growing needs of the community.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has committed up to $2.5 million for the redevelopment of Gaskin Park in Churchill if the Coalition win at the upcoming election
Upgrading Gaskin Park
Mr Chester said, "Providing opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle means investing in facilities that cater for men and women. I took the fight to Canberra and successfully lobbied senior Coalition colleagues for a funding commitment for the Gaskin Park redevelopment ahead of the federal election, which will be held on May 3."
Mr Chester said the Gaskin Park redevelopment project is well-designed and ready for federal government investment to bring it up to modern standards. "Only a Coalition government will deliver the vital upgrades desperately needed at Gaskin Park. Safety concerns and dilapidated facilities mean this sporting facility is no longer fit to service the growing community of Churchill."
"These upgrades would enable greater sporting opportunities for women and girls locally, provide access to better facilities for regional families and ensure Gaskin Park remains a hub for local sport and recreation for families and sporting groups. The design is well advanced, and Latrobe City Council has secured other sources of funding to add to the project," he said.
