Marinus Link community drop-in sessions and more updates from South Gippsland Council

With the federal government announcing a National Day of Mourning public holiday for the late Queen Elizabeth II, council's offices will be closed on 22 September, as well as 23 September for the Grand Final celebration public holiday. If you have an enquiry that is urgent, you can still contact council on 5662 9200 and it will be taken by the after-hours service.

Governance rules
At today's council meeting, council approved the commencement of a community consultation period for the draft Governance Rules (C82). Changes to five areas within the Rules have been proposed. The consultation period opens 22 September and will close 7 October. To provide feedback, please visit 'Have your Say' page.
Offshore renewable energy
At today's council meeting, a submission to the federal government's Offshore Renewable Energy Infrastructure Area Proposal was formally endorsed. The submission provides in principle support toward offshore renewable energy, but also outlines council's concerns, which primarily stem from community feedback and a lack of information on the direct and indirect impacts. Submissions for the offshore renewable energy infrastructure area proposal are open until 7 October and can be made at Offshore renewable energy infrastructure area proposal: Bass Strait off Gippsland page.
To apply, events will need to meet the following criteria and must have an Australian Business Number (ABN), EOI's will be considered from the following legal entities
Expression of interest
Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the Gippsland Events Acquisition Fund are currently being accepted. The Acquisition Fund aims to strengthen and sustain events across Gippsland by providing funding support for events that will attract visitors and provide economic benefits for the Gippsland region.
This round is open to event organisers in the South Gippsland Shire that will be holding an event before 30 June 2023. All successful Expressions of Interest will be invited to submit an application, which will then be assessed by Events Gippsland. No financial contribution is required from event organisers, however there are application guidelines that have to be met.

Rates information
If you are facing financial hardship and need to organise an instalment plan for your rates, please get in touch with our Rates team before 27 September.
They can then set up payments in time for 30 September (when the first payment is due). If you want to know more about rates, please watch the Rates - South Gippsland video.
Nominations for Australia Day awards are now open and will be closing on 7 November 2022
Australia Day Awards Now Open
The 2023 South Gippsland Australia Day Awards are now open. The awards provide an opportunity for hardworking residents to be recognised for the significant contribution they make to their local community. There are three award categories:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Community Event of the Year
Nominees in all categories will be celebrated at an Australia Day Awards event at 6.30pm on Wednesday 18 January, 2023 at the Meeniyan Town Hall. Nominations can be submitted at South Gippsland Shire Council website. Nominations close 7 November 2022.
Request for tenders
Council is seeking submissions from qualified companies/applicants for the following:
- RFT/313 - Jones Street, Foster - Street Reconstruction Tenders close at 2pm AEST on Tuesday 11 October.
- RFT/333 - Construction of Footpath Extensions - Various Locations Tenders close at 2pm AEST on Tuesday 27 September
Documentation is available from council's e-Tendering Portal, to hear from people with such experience and capability, not only inspire but encourage
Council meeting 475
The council meeting is live streamed through a YouTube streaming service which automatically selects the appropriate quality level based on your internet speed and quality. This setting can be manually overridden by accessing the 'settings cog' in the bottom right hand corner. Council is not responsible for these types of technical issues as they are beyond its control.

Lonnie Lee Lovin' Life, Korumburra Country Concert
