East Gippsland Shire Council meeting snapshot - Tuesday 21 May 2024
During the Council Meeting on May 21, actions included recognizing Junior Rotarians, expressing condolences for Joseph Cullen, awarding contracts for road safety upgrades, endorsing submissions, and addressing locality boundary realignments.
- At the Council Meeting held on Tuesday 21 May 2004, council:
Recognised the presence of two Junior Rotarians, with the Mayor presenting them both with commemorative council pins - Expressed sincere condolences to the family, friends and former colleagues of the late Joseph Cullen, a former Chief Executive Officer of council
- Awarded a contract for significant road safety upgrade works along Myer Street in Lakes Entrance. The project aims to enhance drainage, parking, pedestrian access and formalise service roads
- Awarded a contract for the redevelopment of the Mallacoota Streetscape along Maurice Avenue. The works will alleviate traffic problems and promote pedestrian access and safety
- Endorsed council's comprehensive submission to the Federal Government's Inquiry into Local Government Sustainability
- Endorsed the proposal to realign the locality boundaries at Eagle Point, Paynesville, Newlands Arm, Raymond Island, Boole Poole, Metung, Lakes Entrance and Kalimna to Geographic Names Victoria for formal amendment, resolving areas of potential confusion at times when emergency services are called to attend
- Noted the Council Plan Progress Report for Quarter 3, 2023-24. The report highlights completed and ongoing major initiatives, a new wellness space at the
- Lakes Entrance Aquadome, planning for housing strategy, community resilience efforts, a Stormwater Management Plan, and engagement for Bairnsdale 2050
