Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester says there's never been a better time to explore the East Gippsland Rail Trail. A multi-million dollar upgrade, including this new boardwalk near Bruthen has been made possible due to funding secured from the previous federal government. Mr Chester has this week announced a $3500 grant for the rail trail volunteers to carry out some minor works and maintenance.

Continual rail trail upgrades
The upgrades to the East Gippsland Rail Trail keep on coming with a new bridge being installed near Bruthen. The improvements to drainage, trail surface and low-level bridges are boosting the experience for all users of the popular trail between Bairnsdale and Orbost.
This project is being funded by the federal government and managed by the volunteer rail trail committee members. Local firms like Jarvis Norwood are doing the work including this replacement bridge alongside the Swan Reach to Bruthen Road. Well done to everyone involved.
