Assurance given on Churchill Neighbourhood CentreLatrobe City Council and the Gippsland Education Precinct Board have assured the Churchill community that the Churchill Neighbourhood Centre will not be relocated until suitable, alternative accommodation can be arranged. By Latrobe City Council - 21st January 2004 - Back to News Latrobe City’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Paul Buckley said that plans for the Education Precinct at Churchill to utilise part of the Churchill Leisure Centre currently occupied by the Churchill Neighbourhood Centre had been known for some time.
In early discussions the Neighbourhood Centre indicated a willingness to move from the Churchill Leisure Centre to accommodate the Gippsland Education Precinct provided appropriate premises could be found.
"We are grateful the Neighbourhood Centre has been so positive in working with us to identify options," Mr Buckley said. "We have assured them that they are welcome to stay as long as it takes for Council to find a place which meets their needs."
Consultation between Council, the Churchill Neighbourhood House, the Churchill and District Community Association, Monash University and Gippsland Education Precinct over the issues will continue in order to achieve the best outcome for all concerned.
