East Gippsland Shire Council is looking forward to bringing its largest-ever display to the East Gippsland Field Days on April 11 and12 at the Bairnsdale Aerodrome. This year's display offers a unique opportunity for community members to connect with Councillors, staff, and executives, learn about Council services, and discuss current projects and local matters directly with the people behind the scenes.

Meet your council

Come meet our team and explore a wide range of activities and services, including:

• Mayor and Councillors: Available for conversation and community connection
• CEO and executives: Learn about the council's strategic direction
• Customer Service: Staff to assist with direct requests and enquiries into the system
• Strategic Planning: Chat with a planner and discuss status updates
• Roads: Discuss our 3000km + roads that we maintain with the team and see a sample of road surfacing
• Waste & Sustainability: Name our recycling mascot for a chance to win a worm farm and get waste-wise and sustainable gardening guides
• Agricultural assistance: Sign up for AgriNews and learn more about the Grown, Caught, Made program
• Projects: Kids can role-play as Junior Project Supervisors while the adults can explore current YourSay projects
• Community Laws: Learn about responsible pet ownership, meet mascots Bruce and Monkey, and enter the colouring competition
• Parks & Gardens: Check out the remote-controlled mower and learn how it works
• Mobile Library Bus: Enjoy Storytime on Saturday and enjoy the kids' activities, and giant chess
• Business Resilience: Staff will visit stallholders with information on resources and workshops
• Rates: Learn about the rates form and discuss any payment or hardship matters

Mayor Cr John White, along with other councillors, will be available throughout the event to connect with the community. Council chief executive officer Fiona Weigall and members of the executive team will also be present to listen and engage.

Celebrating local spirit

Mayor John White highlighted the significance of the East Gippsland Field Days as a much-loved local tradition that brings people together and supports the region. "We are proud to support this iconic agricultural event on the East Gippsland calendar."

"It's a great opportunity for the community to explore local products, services, and equipment of local vendors all in one place. We encourage you to bring the family along for a great day out and enjoy the festivities. What many in the community may not be aware of is that a portion of the funds raised will be distributed back to local community organisations. It's a community working together at its best," John said.

Library fun field days

The Mobile Library Bus will host Storytime sessions on Saturday at 10.00 am and 2.00 pm, providing a fun, family-friendly activity for all ages. Visitors to the Council display will have the chance to:

• Win daily raffle prizes drawn at 2.00 pm
• Visitor Information Centre hampers (valued at $50 each)
• 2 x Mallacoota Foreshore Holiday Park vouchers (valued at $150 each)
• Free family swim passes to the Bairnsdale Aquatic and Recreation Centre and Lakes Aquadome
• Enter the 'Name the Waste Mascot' competition for a chance to win a worm farm

The East Gippsland Field Days is a must-attend event, bringing the community together to celebrate the best of agriculture, local businesses, and regional culture. With something for everyone, it promises to be a highlight of the year.
