Community celebration day at Moe LibraryLatrobe City Council is hosting a community celebration day at the new Moe Service Centre and Frank Bartlett Memorial Library on Sunday 20 November from 10am to 2pm. Activities for all the family will be taking place throughout the event. It’s free. By Portal Admin - 10th November 2016 - Back to News Latrobe City Council’s coordinator libraries, Deb Skinner, said the new building was opened in June but a combination of federal and local government caretaker periods meant that there had been no community launch.
"We want to celebrate our new service centre and library with the people it services – the community. It’s not just a facility for Moe, but for everyone across Latrobe City to love and learn in.
"This building was a long time in the planning and now that the doors are open we want the community to feel that it’s theirs, shape its use and influence what we offer in their facility.
"The celebration day will feature free activities for everyone including community group stalls, cooking demonstrations by Noeline Marchwicki from MasterChef, bonsai demonstrations and a 'blender bike' that serves up pedal-powered smoothies. There will also be a jumping castle, face painting, a children’s treasure hunt and barbecue," Ms Skinner said.
"Councillors will also be in attendance to meet and chat with the community. If you’ve never been to our new service centre and library, this is a great opportunity to take a tour. You can even sign up to become a library member," Ms Skinner concluded.
