Shire To Study Sport Infrastructure Needs

East Gippsland Shire Council is to begin a study that will identify and plan for community sporting infrastructure needs over the next ten years.

By East Gippsland Shire Council - 28th November 2006 - Back to News

Jointly funded by the Shire and Department for Victorian Communities the study will focus on providing long-term viability, affordability and the wisest expenditure of ratepayer funds.

Recreation Planner Al Campbell said the Shire was committed to providing high quality recreation and sporting facilities for residents and visitors.

"We recognise that the development and maintenance of these resources must be undertaken in partnership with stakeholders including sporting clubs, peak bodies and the broader community," he said.

Local sporting clubs and the broader community will be invited to provide input into the Strategy to ensure these needs and priorities are met.

When the strategy is completed and regional needs identified the East Gippsland Shire will apply to the State Government to fund particular programs.
