Traralgon North Development Plan and Development Contribution PlanThe Traralgon North Development Plan and Development Contribution Plan was endorsed by Council on Monday 7 October subject to the gazettal of Planning Scheme Amendment C78 by the Minister for Planning. By Latrobe City - 14th October 2013 - Back to News The Traralgon North precinct is a residential area north of Marshalls Road, Traralgon, it includes 13 properties and is approximately 118ha in size. The Traralgon North precinct is bounded by Traralgon Maffra Road to the east, Marshalls Road to the south, Traralgon Creek and Latrobe River floodplain to the west and the existing gas pipeline to the north.
Latrobe City Council mayor, Councillor Sandy Kam, said that the Traralgon North Development Plan was an exciting new residential opportunity for Traralgon.
"There are many great features of the plan including its high quality urban design and variety of lot sizes, including some larger lots to take advantage of views. Along with a mix of housing there is a proposed new supermarket location which will service the development as well as creating job opportunities within Latrobe Valley.
"The plan also shows a new community facility and active recreation area along with a range of public open space areas and shared pathways. The pathways provide great access and connections to the Traralgon Creek, Gippsland Rail Trail, Traralgon CBD and other existing residential areas," Cr Kam said.
"The Development Plan identifies where future residential areas, roads, pathways, parks, wetlands and other physical infrastructure should be located within this precinct. Whilst the Development Contributions Plan sets out the works, services and facilities to be funded through a development infrastructure levy.
"We have ensured strong landowner involvement and wide community consulation throughout the development of the plan so we are confident it has a robust design," Cr Kam concluded.
Planning permit applications can now be lodged with the endorsement of the Development Plan. The issuing of planning permits further increases the land available for development in Traralgon.
