Further $10 million allocation to upgrade and replace bridges in Australia through federal government's Bridges Renewal Program (BRP)
More bridges in Gippsland will be eligible to be replaced as part of the Federal Government's Bridges Renewal Program (BRP).
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said the program would allocate a further $10 million each year for the next four years to replace bridges throughout Australia. "The Bridges Renewal Program has seen upgrades to bridges in Buchan, Alberton West, Traralgon South and Woodglen through previous rounds," Mr Chester said.

Fit for purpose infrastructure
Mr Chester said, "Upgrading bridges improves the useability not only for local residents but also the freight networks using our roads to transport essential goods and produce. This additional funding will also provide an economic boost by supporting local jobs and providing opportunities for local suppliers during construction."
Mr Chester said continued investment on Gippsland road infrastructure was essential for the region's connectivity. "Having safe and fit for purpose road infrastructure improves regional connectivity and keeps Gippslanders safe. Projects eligible for the program include replacing and widening bridges, strengthening existing structures and upgrading floodways to bridges." Mr Chester said.
