AgriBusiness Gippsland is supporting the future success of Gippsland’s food and fibre value chain by contributing to the development of the new Gippsland Tech School, scheduled to open in Morwell in 2017. The school will attract, retain and develop talented young people and play a critical role in showcasing the many careers that food and fibre offer.

In mid-October, over 100 students from Leongatha, Maffra and Traralgon Colleges joined Agribusiness Gippsland and other industry and educational leaders in a co-design workshop to shape the curriculum at the school. The focus of the sessions, led by Steve Lennon, Fujitsu’s Global Advisor for Innovation, was: How do we design learning experiences for young people that harness their potential and strengths as learners and equip them with the skills and attributes to succeed in the 21st century workplace?

It was clear that students are looking for local careers. They also want to work closely with industry so that the Tech School becomes a "sand pit" to understanding what is coming next and to solve real workforce problems. Gippsland's futute is looking bright.
