Internet gateway encouraging new residents to Gippsland goes live

The six Gippsland Councils, including Wellington Shire, have just launched an information website – www.liveinggippsland.com – aimed at encouraging more people to settle in the region, particularly from metropolitan centres.

The new site provides invaluable information on the lifestyle offered by the individual council areas, local businesses, services and tourist attractions, along with useful links. It is designed to encourage potential residents to seriously consider relocating to Gippsland and assists them in making an informed choice.

It is connected with the State government’s Provincial Victoria marketing campaign. This is a state-wide initiative promoting the advantages of regional Victoria as a place to live and work - targeted at those currently living in Melbourne and seeking a lifestyle change, as well as migrants from elsewhere in Australia and overseas.

Said Wellington’s Mayor Jeff Amos: "These are the early stages of a concerted marketing drive to encourage more individuals and families to come and settle in the Gippsland region. They stand to benefit greatly from the fantastic lifestyle opportunities we can offer including the scenery, recreational activities, educational facilities and the potential for business development and expansion. And don’t forget that Wellington is only about two hours by road or rail from Melbourne and all that the state capital has to offer."

Any business, organisation or service provider who like their website linked to www.liveingippsland.com is invited to phone Tim Wills, Wellington Shire Council’s Manager for Economic Development, on 5142 3355, or e-mail him on timw@wellington.vic.gov.au with the address of their website.
