FREEWAY CLOSURE UPDATEHello everyone, This is my first update as the Incident Controller since returning from leave. I have appreciated the efforts of Superintendent Geoff Newby from With Easter now behind us we have returned to managing the volume of traffic we have become accustomed to passing through Morwell over the last three and a half months since the freeway was closed. The Emergency Management Team (EMT) is constantly reviewing data surrounding the land movement between Professor Tim Sullivan’s report has been received and is being analysed and discussed by the stakeholders; VicRoads, International Power Hazelwood, the Department of Primary Industries and Latrobe City Council. Fully absorbing the report will of course take some time. The Police Department will continue to chair the EMT until we move into the recovery phrase for the freeway closure. This week the Deputy Premier, the Hon. Peter Ryan, will be attending a briefing by EMT members on Thursday in Morwell. I will report back to you next week any news from this week’s EMT meeting via the next special edition of this newsletter. Also, keep a look out for our fortnightly column appearing in the Latrobe Valley Express.
