Free Fuel Opportunity For VolunteersVolunteers of not-for-profit organisations are being encouraged to apply for free fuel vouchers by their local member, Nationals MLA Russell Northe. By Russell Northe - 30th April 2009 - Back to News Mr Northe said Australian residents who volunteer for a registered non-profit organisation dedicated to education, health, arts, community, sport, youth or environment may be eligible for a free BP pre-pay fuel card.
"Volunteers are the glue that holds our community together yet so often their efforts go without reward or recognition," Mr Northe said.
"When times are tough, more tends to be expected from volunteers but it can be difficult to absorb the costs of these endeavours in the family budget.
"BP’s initiative may go some way to easing the burden of travel expenses associated with volunteer activities, helping volunteers to continue their great work in our community."
Mr Northe said the BP Vouchers for Volunteers team will determine the fuel card value and successful applicants will receive their card by the end of the financial year.
Applications are now open and will be accepted until 11 May 2009.
To apply or for further detail on eligibility criteria, Mr Northe encourages volunteers to visit http://www.talkstoppedlongago.com.au
