Municipal-wide safety matters

Latrobe City Council Mayor, Cr Sharon Gibson said, "A Latrobe City Community Safety Committee will address municipality-wide community safety issues to inform a consistent approach across partners within the municipality."

The municipal-wide Safety Committee is based on expanding the approach taken by the successful Traralgon Central Business District Safety Committee which will be discontinued to allow a municipal-wide approach to safety matters.

Committee to deal with specific issues

Cr Gibson also said, "If there is a safety problem within a specific community then we can form a sub-committee to work on that." It is proposed that the new committee meets quarterly, with sub-committees being convened to deal with specific issues on a time-limited basis. Recruitment of members to the Committee will be undertaken and a future report will be presented to Council for endorsement of the proposed membership.
