Nominate your Aussie hero!Nominations for 2020 Bass Coast Australia Day Awards Citizen of the Year or Young Citizen of the Year now open. By Portal Admin - 30th September 2019 - Back to News Do you know someone living in Bass Coast who regularly goes above and beyond, you can always rely on for help, or you admire for their contribution to the community?
If someone has instantly come to mind, nominate them for 2020 Bass Coast Australia Day Awards Citizen of the Year or Young Citizen of the Year.
Nominations are now open for the Awards, which acknowledge those who make a positive contribution to our community.
This year, the nominations can be done easily and quickly online at www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/ausday2020.
Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor, Cr Brett Tessari, said the Awards are a fantastic way to recognise the hard work and dedication by valued members of our community.
"We have so many passionate community members who volunteer their time, never hesitate to help others in need and really help make Bass Coast a wonderful place to live," Cr Tessari said.
"Just nominating someone for the Awards can help them see how thankful we all are for their contribution to our community, but we can’t consider people unless someone puts their name forward. So take a little time to fill out the nomination form by answering a few simple questions."
All nominees should:
- have made significant contributions to the Bass Coast community
- have acted above and beyond the scope of their regular employment or duties
- be inspirational role models
- positively impact the lives of others
- live within the Shire
Nominees for Citizen of the Year must be aged 25 years or over on 26 January 2020 and for Young Citizen of the Year must be aged 16-24 years on 26 January 2020. Nominations must be for individuals, as those for multiple people cannot be considered.
Nominations close on Thursday, 14 November 2019 and the finalists and winners will be announced in the lead up to Australia Day in January 2020.
