Council Permit Not Approved

East Gippsland Shire Council will fine the organisers of last weekend’s Equinox outdoor event, more commonly known as a ‘Rave’ party, held at a property on Lake Victoria Road, Forge Creek.

By East Gippsland Shire Council - 29th March 2004 - Back to News

"Contrary to various reports throughout the week, Council did not issue the required planning permit for the event," said Shire Chief Executive Officer, Steve Kozlowski.

"Council will issue fines to the operators Infinity Productions as well as the land owner, stipulating that any such future event may only be held with appropriate written approvals from the Council.

"Since the event went ahead without approval, Council has received numerous complaints from residents in relation to the intensity and persistence of the music that could be heard for kilometres in either direction.

"Council will take appropriate enforcement action to ensure that events like this do not take place unless relevant permission has been obtained after appropriate community consultation," Steve said.

For further information contact Steve Kozlowski on 5153 9500.
