By news@gippsland - 19th September 2025 - Back to News The multi-million-dollar redevelopment of the Buchan Recreation Reserve, set to transform the facility for locals and visitors with a new community pavilion and modern sporting change rooms, is on track for scheduled completion in February next year, according to Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester. 
The Buchan Recreation Reserve is taking shape and is on track for scheduled completion in early 2026 Upgrading local facilitiesMr Chester said the redevelopment was part of the master plan for the site and had received funding support from all levels of government, alongside the tireless efforts of local volunteers. "The old facilities were outdated, unfit for purpose and unsafe for athletes, particularly the changerooms and netball/tennis courts." "This redevelopment will deliver a modern hub for local sport and community activities, creating a safer and more welcoming space for players, families and visitors to enjoy for generations to come," Mr Chester said. Building Buchan togetherThe project is being managed by East Gippsland Shire Council, with local firm Cadbuild Constructions carrying out the works. "When I visited a few months ago, the pavilion was just a frame, but now the structure is really taking shape and you can see the vision becoming a reality." "This is an excellent example of what can be achieved when local volunteer committees work with all levels of government to secure funding and deliver important community infrastructure. I want to congratulate the dedicated volunteers for their persistence and commitment - this project will leave a lasting legacy for the Buchan community," Mr Chester said.
