Racing will resume at Traralgon Greyhound Club after Glenview Park track redevelopment, celebrated by Martin Cameron as a "big win for people power" following community and trainer advocacy Racing community unitedAfter racing was paused at Traralgon in July 2024 amid concerns about the viability of the lure system and unique j-curve track, a group of passionate greyhound trainers and community members rallied to secure the future of racing at Glenview Park. The working group conducted extensive research for new track solutions and lobbied Greyhound Racing Victoria with a focus on improved maintenance, racing and trialling options, as well as sustainable management for the club itself. Securing racing futureSpeaking in Parliament in October last year, Mr Cameron raised the plight of the Traralgon Greyhound Racing Club and asked Minister for Racing, Anthony Carbines, to meet with members to discuss the need for state government support. "I was really pleased the Minister accepted my invitation and recognised the importance of greyhound racing to our local community and economy. The working group made a compelling case for reinstating racing at Glenview Park and came armed with viable solutions for redevelopment of the track and lure system, which is a huge credit to the small army of passionate trainers and community members," Mr Cameron said. Racing returns on 2026Racing is scheduled to resume at the new and improved Glenview Park in early 2026, with the new track a similar shape to Sale with distances of 350m, 425m, 570m, and a trial-only start of 280m for education purposes. "Thanks must go to Greyhound Racing Victoria who showed a willingness to work with our community to make these redevelopments possible. Importantly, the biggest thank-you is reserved for the passionate group of trainers and community members who lobbied hard to secure these works - none of this would have happened without your dedication," Mr Cameron.
