Future caravan park

The current lease, with the Caravan Park operator, will end on 31 May 2026 with there being no options left under the lease to extend the agreement. The current operator has been onsite since 2017. Council decision-making is also guided by the state government's Crown Land Leasing Policy which requires fair, open and impartial leasing processes. This means we cannot simply continually extend the current operator's lease.

Latrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Dale Harriman, encouraged people to have their say on the future use of the Moe Gardens Caravan Park. "The use of the Caravan Park has evolved significantly since the start of the current lease in 2008, with a reduction in short stay caravaning and holiday camping. The time is right to consider how the site can be used to its maximum potential," said the Mayor.

Have your say

Cr Harrimad said, "Council has met with the Caravan Park operator and current site holders and will continue to work with them whilst we undertake community consultation to consider the future of the site. "Council has not made any decision regarding the future of the Caravan Park at this time and in the short term we are hopeful the community will continue to support the site being used as a caravan park."

"Council wants to hear your ideas and vision for the site. Complete the Have Your Say survey to help guide council decision making. This could be anything from continuing to operate as a caravan park, an open market space to a recreation reserve - let us know what you think the site could be used for, visit Your Say Latrobe website.
