A new national day to recognise the contribution of volunteer lifesavers will be held in March next year. Red & Yellow Day will be a nationwide celebration of the lifesaving movement, and an opportunity to show our appreciation to our volunteers for giving their time, effort and energy to protect our community.

Show your support

The public will be encouraged to show their support by wearing the iconic red and yellow colours of our volunteer lifesavers, making a donation to their local club or joining as a member, and pledging to keep themselves and their loved ones safe in the water.

The day will also promote the Red & Yellow Day Appeal, which is an opportunity for lifesaving clubs to raise much-needed funds to support their operations, build community engagement and take part in nationwide water safety campaigns.

Celebrating lifesaving volunteers

LSV General Manager - Member Engagement and Sport Simon Rickard thanked and commended our volunteer lifesavers, who are gearing up for the start of the Summer Patrol Season on November 15. "Our volunteer lifesavers show incredible dedication, skill and selflessness, giving their time freely to serve the public."

"Red & Yellow Day is a fantastic opportunity to recognise and celebrate our volunteer lifesavers for their efforts to keep our community safe in the water as well as raise much needed funds to support essential equipment, training, and facilities for clubs," Mr. Rickard said.

The inaugural Red & Yellow Day will run on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. The Red & Yellow Day Appeal will run from March 3 to May 6. For further information contact the LSV Media team  / 03 9676 6970.
