Youth advocates for Baw Baw ( YABBies ) offer school holidays fun with free creative, active events for Baw Baw Youth on April 2026

Baw Baw’s YABBies are hosting free April school holiday events, including sushi making, painting, and skatepark activities, offering safe, fun, and engaging opportunities for youth aged 12–17 to connect and learn.

Get ready for a fun-filled school holidays this April as local youth dive into an exciting line up of creative and active events designed to keep school aged kids entertained and engaged. Run by the Council supported YABBies (Youth Advocates for Baw Baw), the upcoming school holiday program features activities that provide safe and welcoming spaces for young people to connect with friends, learn new skills and try something new.

Youth holiday program

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Councillor Kate Wilson said the program provided a great way to spend time with friends during the break from school. "The YABBies have done a great job pulling together a range of fun and free events for secondary school aged kids to enjoy"

"These events give young people something truly exciting and positive to look forward to during the school holidays. They’re a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, form meaningful connections and strengthen a sense of belonging in our community. We encourage everyone to get involved, meet new people and enjoy themselves in a safe, welcoming environment," she said.

Various free event

All events are free however some bookings are required, see the full event details below:

Sushi Making

Have a go at making delicious sushi! Ingredients and equipment provided, no experience necessary. For young people aged 12-17.

  • When: 1.30pm – 3pm on Wednesday 8 April
  • Where: Drouin Community Hub, 1 Oak Street, Drouin

Registration is free, bookings are limited and essential at Humanitix website.

Paint and Snack

Come and paint your own masterpiece! All equipment provided, as well as fancy snacks! For young people aged 12-17.

  • When: 1pm - 3pm on Tuesday 14 April
  • Where: Longwarry Public Hall, 14 Kennedy Street, Longwarry

Registration is free, bookings are limited and essential at Humanitix website.

Live at the Skatepark

  • When: 11am - 4pm on Friday 17 April
  • Where: Warragul Skatepark

This action-packed event will feature competitions for skate, scooter and BMX, facilitated by Skate Park League, live music with local emerging bands, food trucks, giant games and interactive stalls. All events have been designed by the YABBies in consultation with local young people to ensure the program reflects their interests and ideas.
