The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O’Brien has handed over hundreds of unused disposable nappies to Vinnies to be distributed by its welfare team to families in need across Gippsland. The nappies were collected through The Nappy Collective’s Giving Project, with Mr O’Brien’s Sale office and The Sentinel Times serving as local drop-off points.

Generosity supports families

Mr O’Brien said the generosity shown by the community had once again been outstanding. "This is a simple but powerful way for locals to support other locals. Gippslanders have faced more than their fair share of challenges in recent years, yet the willingness of people to donate and look after one another hasn’t wavered. These nappies will make a real difference for families who are under pressure."

Mr O’Brien also thanked the team at The Sentinel Times for getting behind the initiative. "It’s been great to have The Sentinel Times on board this year. Its support helped spread the word and made it easier for more people to contribute."

Supporting nappy collective

The Nappy Collective is an Australian charity dedicated to helping families experiencing "nappy stress", which is when parents cannot afford enough nappies to keep their children clean, dry and healthy. The organisation estimates that hundreds of thousands of Australian children are affected by nappy stress each year.

Mr O’Brien said he will continue to support The Nappy Collective’s efforts and encouraged anyone with spare, unused nappies to drop them into his Sale office throughout the year. "I’m grateful to everyone who contributed and to Vinnies for ensuring these donations reach the families who need them most," he said.
