Community input sought on sewerage services for Loch Sport and Honeysuckles

Wellington Shire Council is keen to hear from people of Loch Sport and Honeysuckles interested in participating on Reference Groups that will help guide the installation of much needed new water and sewerage services to these two townships.

By Wellington Shire Council - 29th August 2005 - Back to News

The aim is for the two groups to comprise people representing a diverse range of skills, knowledge and experience. Ideally members will include property owners (both permanent and absentee), active community participants, people with experience in business and/or tourism, and recent septic tank applicants

Those interested should complete an Expression of Interest form. These are available from the council’s Sale service centre, local business premises in Loch Sport and Honeysuckles and the mobile library. Alternatively contact the council’s Environmental Health Unit by phone on 5142 3410, or by emailing allanw@wellington.vic.gov.au

The deadline for applications is 5.00pm on Friday 9 September 2005.

Once the Reference Groups are established they will participate in a series of presentations and workshops with Wellington Shire Council and consultants to help guide progress on a concept design for the provision of safe and reliable drinking water and sewerage services in the two townships.

The council and Gippsland Water have received funding from the Department of Sustainability and Environment for this consultation work.

Said Wellington’s Chief Executive Officer Lyndon Webb: "The installation of water and sewerage services to Loch Sport and Honeysuckles will be a major initiative and bring huge benefits to those living in these townships. With this in mind, it is important that we have truly representative Reference Groups established, so that community needs are properly addressed during the consultation process."
