Darren Chester's vision for Gippsland, a stronger communities, lower costs, and local jobs
Australia faces challenges under the Albanese government, with rising living costs and neglected regional communities. As a Gippslander, I'm committed to securing better services, creating local jobs, and reducing costs.
Australia is heading in the wrong direction, and we have an opportunity to set a new and more optimistic course with the federal election on May 3. As a born and bred Gippslander, I'm passionate about making sure we get our fair share of government resources so that we have the best possible health services, aged care, education opportunities and access to childcare.
Darren Chester is dedicated to advocating for Gippslanders, creating jobs, reducing living costs, and building a safer, stronger, fairer community
Gippsland's future choice
When Gippslanders go to the polls, they will ask themselves, do they feel better off after three years of an Albanese government, and do they feel safer? The Labor Party has added to the cost of living and families are struggling to pay their household bills with the weight of 12 interest rate rises. Prime Minister Albanese has divided Australians with his failed Voice referendum and a failure to show any leadership on national security, violent crime and anti-semitism.
I'm determined to keep fighting for a fair go for Gippslanders, creating local jobs, and taking common sense to Canberra. I have a plan to reduce the cost of living and build a safer, stronger, fairer Gippsland where everyone can get ahead.
We've already announced our policy to cut fuel excise in half, which will save two-car families up to $1500 over 12 months. There will be more policies that will help to reduce the cost of living and build safer local communities.
Regional neglect and change
During my time in Federal Parliament, I have worked with communities across Gippsland to create jobs with funding for major road and rail upgrades, along with smaller community projects which make a difference to the lives of local families.
I believe in practical projects to improve the environment, like controlling pest plants and animals, caring for our rivers, lakes and beaches, and managing the bush properly with a sustainable timber industry, plus more boots on the ground.
Sadly, our region has been neglected by the Albanese government, with cuts to regional grants programs which we rely on to build better roads and community infrastructure. As part of an experienced Coalition team, I will always work to keep Australians safe, reduce the cost of living, and deliver the critical services we need. We need a change of government.
Fix, protect and deliver
There's nothing wrong with Australia that a good government can't fix, and we need to secure a fairer share of funding for infrastructure and services in our region. Gippsland has felt the impacts of Labor government policy changes at state and federal levels, which have hurt smaller communities.
The continual attacks on our traditional industries like timber, fishing, farming and energy generation are threatening the viability of local communities, and we need a return to sensible policy-making to protect regional jobs. I have always worked to protect local jobs, reduce waste in government, and deliver lower taxes so we can take the pressure off families and afford the things that matter, like better roads, improved healthcare and upgrading local facilities.
I am honoured by the support I have received from Gippslanders in the past, and together, we have been able to deliver some incredible projects that have improved the way of life for our community. I plan to keep putting locals first and deliver even more for Gippsland.
