Business Register Supporting Local
Online business register to bring together local businesses and the community during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Latrobe City Council has developed an online business register to bring together local businesses and the community, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Latrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Dan Clancey urged business owners to sign up now.
"The directory is tailor made to connect consumers directly to businesses. This is not just a commercial listing of the basics, this is a detailed registry by product and/or service, delivery method and contact details. There are currently more than 20 categories to help consumers access the business they need.
The register has already attracted over 150 hundred entries, from accommodation to health and wellness, from home improvement to giftware.
"The register might have developed as a way of boosting business confidence and community awareness during the restrictions, but it will offer continued support post-COVID.
"The register asks businesses how they have adapted their trading model during this time, how consumers can access those goods and services and whether there are different opening hours we should be aware of. It's a simple online form, nothing too complex," Cr Clancey said.
"Council's business development team were speaking to local business owners and the concept of the business directory was born. We know there are also many local residents who want to support those very same businesses in any way they can. But we also understand that this register isn't just about the current time, which presents many challenges, but is also about strengthening the future of our local economy.
"Council has offered a support package that includes refunding a number of permit or registration fees, reducing rent in Council-owned buildings, assistance with accessing grants and establishing a business help desk. There is also a free webinar series 'Let's Talk Business' featuring some of the region's specialist business minds helping local business navigate through COVID-19," Cr Clancey said.
