Latrobe farewells respected Police InspectorBy Latrobe Shire Council - 13th December 2004 - Back to News Outgoing Latrobe District Police Inspector Chris Notman was presented with an award honouring his dedication and commitment to Latrobe City at Wednesday’s meeting of the Latrobe Local Safety Committee. Inspector Notman is moving to the Wonthaggi Police district office.
Chair of the Latrobe Local Safety Committee, Lorraine Bartling OAM said that after two years in the position, Inspector Notman had been given the award to recognise his work on various initiatives and with many local agencies in the Latrobe region.
"Inspector Notman has been instrumental in working alongside organisations and initiatives such as Latrobe City, the Department of Human Services, the Latrobe Valley Neighbourhood Renewal program, the Road Safety Education and Awareness Partnership (REAP), LatrobeFirst and the Latrobe Valley Alcohol Accord to improve the safety and wellbeing of locals and visitors alike," Mrs Bartling said.
The Latrobe Local Safety Committee is a partnership between Council and Victoria Police through the combined programs of Local Priority Policing and Community Safety Promotion.
Mrs Bartling presented the award on behalf of Latrobe City Council and the Latrobe Community and highlighted Inspector Notman’s achievements and enthusiasm which had resulted in significant reductions in crime rates over recent times in the Latrobe District. She made particular reference to closer working relations between agencies who have worked to make Latrobe City a safer place for all.
Inspector Notman will be replaced by Chief Inspector Ron Cooke who has been Baw Baw District Inspector based at Warragul.
