South Gippsland Shire Council warns of increase in scam calls - 'Hang up, block number and let your friends and family know'
Scammers targeting victims through money recovery scams, be aware of uninvited offers of help to recover money for an up-front payment, they are scams.
Council has received reports that there is someone calling residents asking to complete the Community Vision 2040 survey. This is not Council. This is a scam. Please do not provide any personal information or answer any of the questions. Hang up, block the number, and let your friends and family know.
This year Scamwatch has received 66 reports of money recovery scams, a 725 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2021
We will not be calling you to complete the survey. To complete, you have the option of doing so online South Gippsland Shire Council's Feedback page or coming along to a face-to-face engagement event. A full list of events can be found at South Gippsland Shire Council's Feedback page. For more tips on how to spot a scam, please visit ScamWatch.
